My love for food began in my mother’s kitchen. The warm aromas and vibrant colours of traditional Gujarati fare, had me filled up with a passion for cooking and extra jaggery at an early age. I was raised in a household where the menu-of-the-day was the centre of our universe. And planning the meal right was more important that the national budget.
Today, food still holds that place for me but with a whole new dimension. I cook not only to feed others, but to also let out my creative instincts that seem to boil over best when I am in the kitchen. With fresh apples, woody mushrooms, aromatic vanilla beans, mucky beetroot, homemade butter, curvy star anise, pungent hot peppers, briny olives and what not.
Professionally, I am an amateur food writer, who slogged her way through the first six tastes to be able to differentiate between her brie and provolone dolce. When I am not writing, I am either baking or talking about food – raving about the recipes I dabble with or drooling over food pictures till the wee hours of morning. Taking cookbooks to bed, collecting cookie cutters, pickle-tasting, planting herbs and learning conventional rasoi from my Maharaj, are my other hobbies.
The sole purpose of this blog is to let my friends ogle at the food that I prepare. And the feedback from readers that comes along.
would love to ogle at a real plate cooked and served by you……….you’re anyway good at whatever you do.
all the best ….
